Pre-Shower Preparation
A big goal of mine last year was to grow my hair, so after lots of research, I started using rosemary hair oil. After using it for five months, I noticed a big difference; the study I read found evidence that Rosemary oil can aid in hair growth. The study stated that after six weeks of use, rosemary oil had the same effect as Minoxidil, a hair growth medication. (Medical News Today)
Hair oiling: Start by brushing your hair to remove any tangles. Apply oil on your scalp(I prefer four drops of rosemary oil), massage into the scalp with your hands or a scalp massager, and apply a nourishing oil or mask/conditioner to your ends. Let this sit for 1-3 hours.
Setting the stage: A clean, fresh room after your shower is a great feeling. While letting my hair marinate, I like to change my sheets for the new week, do work, or deep clean my room. Additionally, I love to play calming music and light a candle.
3. Skin Revival: If you have a dry brush, I recommend using it before your shower. This does not only remove the dead skin cells but also boosts blood circulation.
In-Shower Pampering
1. Haircare: Rinse out your pre-treatment, then shampoo once or twice; after you feel the treatment is out, squeeze out the water in your hair, add conditioner, and wait.
2. Exfoliating: Well, let your conditioner sit. Begin with a quality body scrub, focusing on rough areas like elbows and knees. This step is significant for silky smooth skin. I recommend a scrub with salt and or shea butter that is exfoliating yet moisturizing.
3. Shaving: If you shave, do so after the skin has softened from warmth and exfoliator.
4. Final Rinse: wash off all products, ensuring no residue is left, and use a mild body wash to cleanse any remaining scrub. Then, to make your hair extra silky, rinse your hair with cold water and hop out of the shower.
Post Shower Serenity
Facemasks and Serums: Before putting on my body care, I like to put on a clay face mask while drying off and then focus on hydrating serums and moisturizers. This way, in the morning, my skin feels hydrated and fresh.
Bodycare: Indulge your skin with body serum, oil, or lotion. Put your bodycare in this order for optimal absorption if it is extra dry (I recommend body oil and cream in the winter, and in summer, I love a body serum and body oil.)
Hair Care: Use a detangler, a leave-in conditioner, and or a hair serum for shiny and moisturized hair; after this, you can keep it up in a towel or blow dry it.
Relax: Finally, unwind with journaling, watching your favorite show, drink tea, and sleep well, hopefully you are feeling refreshed! (Some great journalling prompts are 4 things you are grateful for, your goals for the upcoming week, etc.)
